Potential of laser engineered net shaping (LENS) technology

This paper deals with organisational aspects of one of the most promising and sophisticated technologies utilisation - "laser engineered net-shappping technology" - LENS. Managing high-techologies is not just technological challenge, but also organisational. This paper presents tha application possibilities of this technology and its advantages.

3.
Linkages between manufacturing strategy, benchmarking, performance measurement and business process reengineering

The paper presents an empirical analysis for researching linkages between manufacturing strategy, benchmarking, Performance Measurement (PM) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR). The survey research was carried out in 73 medium and large-sized Slovenian manufacturing companies within the mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic industries. Canonical correlation analysis was used to test six hypotheses. The results confirmed the need for a strategically-driven BPR approach and the positive impact of performance measurement on BPR performance.

Robust algorithm for determining line centre within a video positional measuring system

The article is presenting original scientific and development work in the field of precise line scale calibration by using laser interferometer and video-positioning system. The presentation is focused into algorithm for automated detection of the centre of a measured line, which was developed in LTM and applied in the programme environment LabView

5.
Measurement uncertainty in calibration of measurement surface plates flatness

The article is describing different calibration methods for calibrating surface plates as well as scientific analysis and intercomparison of the applied methods, which is based on measuring uncertainty. Algorithm for evaluating measuring uncertainty considers measuring net density, influence of flatness deviation, environmental parameters, capability of measuring instruments, and software for evaluating measurement results.
