M. Gaberšček was awarded the Pregl award for his achievements in the field of insertion materials, especially for his recent discovery of a general model that explains the hysteresis in these devices. The model was published in the most prestigious journal in the field of materials – Nature Materials

Inorganic-organic material for potential use in UV protection sunscreens

The authors prepared, for the first time, stable suspensions of TiO2 in oily media. These suspension showed extremely good UV absorption so they are very well suited for sunscreens. The procedure was patent protected and is currently in the procedure for EU protection (national phase).

Metallic materials for biomedical applications

In vitro research of materials under simulated physiological conditions was presented. In vitro experiments were complemented by examples from clinical practice performed in collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons.

Scientific interview

In the interview basic corrosion processes and methodologies used for their study were described. Special mode of corrosion process is corrosion of orthopaedic implants in human body. Due to increasing number of these implants the knowledge of their long-term behavior is extremely important.
