1.
Deposition parameters to improve the fouling-release properties of thin siloxane coatings prepared by PACVD.

A range of SiO[sub]x-like coatings were deposited on glass slides from a hexamethylsiloxane precursor by plasma-assisted CVD. The effect of varying deposition parameters, specifically ion cleaning time and HMDSO/O[sub]2 ratios, on the coating properties and antifouling performance was investigated.

2.
Fluorinated/siloxane copolymer blends for fouling release : chemical characterisation and biological evaluation with algae and barnacles.

The content of the surface-active copolymer was varied in the blend over a broad range (0.15-10 wt % with respect to PDMS). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy depth profiling analyses were performed on the coatings to establish the distribution of specific chemical constituents throughout the coatings, and proved enrichment in fluorine of the outermost layers of the coating surface.

3.
Fracture of polycrystalline Fe-2.3 V-0.12 P alloy

Comparison of the experimental data with theoretical simulations showed that intergranular fracture spreads along those grain boundaries, which contain more than 17 at.% of segregated phosphorus.

4.
Modelling of high-speed steels fracture toughness

In this investigation the fracture toughness was determined using specimens with a nonstandard shape, i.e., circumferentially notched and precracked round-bar tensile specimens (KIc-testspecimen).

5.
XPS study of duplex stainless steel oxidized by oxygen atoms.

Surface oxidation of the duplex stainless steel DSS alloy 2205 was studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and SEM imaging. The experiments were performed on the alloy after controlled oxidation with oxygen atoms created in an inductively coupled plasma.
