P2-0132 — Annual report 2009
1.
Effect of deep-cryogenic treatment on high speed steel properties.

In the paper the new approach of thermal treatmen is presented, namely the deep cryogenic treatment which affect the properties of high speed steel. The results are very important for tool industry.

2.
Influence of deep-cryogenic treatment on tribological properties of P/M high-speed steel

Tribological tests indicate that deep-cryogenic treatment contributes to improved abrasive wear resistance and better galling properties of P/M high-speed steel. However, austenizing temperature is a very important parameter, which defines the level of possible improvement.

3.
Characterization of the carbides and the martensite phase in powder-metallurgy high-speed steel.

The fraction of martensite was estimated using band-contrast images, while the fraction of carbides was calculated using the crystallographic data.

A PACVD duplex coating for hot-forging applications.

The experimental results indicate that the deposition of a proper duplex PACVD coating and the use of a proper substrate treatment lead to improved tribological properties and a longer lifetime for the hot-forging die.
