Optimization of penstock, directions for the design of steel lining and rock environment

The directions for the design and optimization of steel penstock for new hydropower plant Kozjak was elaborated for company Dravske elektrarne Maribor. The optimization was performed by the non-linear programming optimization approach, NLP. The mass objective function of the steel structure was subjected to the design, structural analysis and dimensioning constraints. Structural steel S 690 was used. Optimal results show 36 % reduction of the structure mass, i.e. about 25 millions EUR of investment costs.

Roundabout with "depressed" lanes for right turning

The idea of the patent is a new type of roundabout, i.e. the roundabout with "depressed" lanes for right turning. This type of roundabout merges good characteristics of the "clasical" two-lane roundabout with the "turbo" roundabout.

Experimental analysis on behaviour of timberframed walls with different types of sheathing boards

This book provides an experimental analysis of timber-framed walls, coated with single sheathing boards fastened to a timber frame, usually used as main bearing capacity elements in the construction of prefabricated timber structures. As designers or producers usually find themselves in an important dilemma which sheathing board is better to use according to the known height and location of the building, the aim of the presented analysis is comparison of the results measured on test samples covered either with fibre-plaster or wood-based sheathing boards. Therefore, the presented conclusions, supported by the measured results, give some important indications in behaviour of the timber-frame wall elements covered with different sheathing boards according to the known horizontal load and consequently, could give some important recommendations in designing of tall timber-frame buildings located on heavy windy or seismic area.
