Investigation of the mechanics and performance of woven fabrics using objective evaluation techniques

In this study, mechanical and performance analyses of woven fabrics were carried out using objective evaluation techniques. The KES-FB Auto system, the FAST system and Cusick’s Drape Meter were used to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fabrics. It was found that the KES-FB Auto and FAST systems have a good correlation between each parameter of mechanical properties, although they use different measurement principles. Furthermore it was found that the drape of a fabric is primarily dependent on the fabric’s bending and shear properties.

Objective evaluation of the quality of enzyme-treated denim fabrics

The paper investigates the quality and possibility of objective evaluation of the handle of enzyme treated denim fabrics. It was found that the performed enzymatic desizing and washing of denim fabrics generally improve the overall hand value, i.e. flexibility and handle of material.

Effect of physical and sorption properties of the fabric on the amount of hte absorbed sweat in the clothing

The paper explores the impact of physical and sorption properties of fabric on the amount of the absorbed sweat in clothing. For research five fabrics of different raw materials, but of the nearly identical structural characteristics (linen, cotton, polyester fabrics as well as fabrics made of line/PES and cotton/PES blends) were used to make women’s summer clothing. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate relationship between the characteristics of fabrics, such as mass, air permeability, water retention capacity and amount of sweat absorbed in clothing.

Garments prototype development using an innovative computer technology

The paper presents the systematic implementation of sophisticated computer technologies through all segments of the prototype development of garment models according to individual body measurements. In line with the previously determined body measurements an adaptation of the parameter computer body model was made. By using material parameters on 2D cutting parts simulations of the 3D model of a garment were performed in order to test fit. In the final stage real prototypes were made for computer-simulated garment models in order to verify virtual simulated prototypes.

Study of elastic behaviour of textile structures

From point of view of end-use properties, of special interest is the elastic behaviour of textile structures at lower stresses, such that occur in processing or garment wearing, as well as in the area of elastic deformations. For this purpose the paper presents a study of elastic behaviour of textile structures. The results show that the deformations occurring in tested fabrics at constant tensile load (490.35 cN per unit width of 1 cm) often do not fall in the area of elastic deformation but reach in the area where more or less residual deformation is evident, or irrecoverable deformation.
