Tribological properties of TiAlN/a-Cn[sub]x coating

Practical examples are protections of tools for metal powder compaction (Unior, Zreče), drawing and fine blanking of tin coated sheet (Silgan, Ljubljana), dosage needles for pharmaceutical industry (Krka, Novo mesto). The "black coating" is composed of the thick hard bottom TiAlN layer (microhardness about 3200 HV) and the top thin lubricant carbon-based layer (microhardness about 1000 HV). The bottom layer ensures a good wear resistance, while the top one has a rather low friction coefficient and low sticking probability for the workpiece material. The lifetime of tools coated with the black coating increases for 4-times in average.

Application of non-equilibrium plasma - from nanowires to fusion reactors

Programme leader has been an invited speaker at over 10 international conferences and foreign universities. Among others, he was invited to visit the largest Japanese fusion centre where he presented original approach for processing materials with an emphasis on fusion relevant ones.

The programme leader was the president of the conference known as one of the major events in the field of processing materials with highly non-equilibrium gaseous plasma. As the president of Slovenian vacuum society he also hosted the annual Executive Council meeting of international union IUVSTA.
