E-PRAGMATIC Project: E-Learning and Practical Training of Mechatronics and Alternative Technologies in Industrial Community

Members of the PG are initiators and coordinators of the international E-PRAGMATIC network (http://www.e-pragmatic.eu), which is co-funded by EU Lifelong learning program, Leonardo da Vinci. The network is an association of 13 regular and 3 associated partners from 7 countries. Its main aim is to modernize mechatronics vocational training of the professionals from industry by enhancing in-company training of the industrial partners. Additionally, an international Community of professionals is established for sharing the knowledge, experience, discussing the ideas between the network’s members.

Professional Study Programme Mechatronics 1st Degree

Slovenian economy must rapidly restructure and therefore adopt newest manufacturing technologies, those of energy and materials transformation. Thus adaptation of study programs is also required. Our industry demands mechatronics engineers, who will be capable to analyze interdisciplinary problems and propose proper solutions that involve mechanical engineering, electronics, control design and computer engineering. Hence, the research group Mechatronic systems has proposed, in strong collaboration with FERI and FS, a new professional study program of 1. degree “Mechatronics“.

MerLab Project: Direct transfer of modern mechatronics knowledge in the industry

Members of the program group prepared and executed a modern online training from mechatronics MerLab. In this training a practical, up-to-date knowledge which is partially a result of the institute’s research activity, was delivered directly to more than 70 professionals in industry. Based on the results of the evaluation, the professionals have found the training very useful and think that it will help them in their further career in the electro-mechanical, respectively mechatronics field.

Slovene national robot competitions RoboT and ROBObum, world wide robot comp. RoboCup 2010 and development of SLO education of advanced technologies

Slovene national competitions RoboT and ROBObum are based on the network of Slovene professional secondary schools (SS). They are a basis for spreading new technologies on all levels of Slovene educational system. Majority of school centers are involved in the competition. We have participated, for the first time, in the worldwide robot competition RoboCup 2009. We have seen that we are comparable with the world in the class Rescue for categories PS and SS. In addition, we contributed to better conditions of implementation for elective subjects “Robotika v tehniki” and “Elektrotehnika” in PS.

Automation level analysis in Slovenia

The poll Automation level analysis in Slovenia is carried out every few years with the purpose to identify the automation level of Slovenian industry. Each time many integrator companies and industrial users are invited to take part in the poll. Results show that Slovenian industry is approximately 10 years behind developed European countries, and this year’s poll showed that the situation is slightly worse due to the global recession. This year’s results are based on 31 polls out of 132 invited, which was enough to achieve relevant information about most of the polls questions.
