Nature on your palm, Forest birds of Slovenia

The second edition of handbook on “Forest birds of Slovenia”, was published by Mladinska knjiga. In the book are presented Slovenian forest birds. Extensive introductionary chapter was added, where authors described ecological, etological and nature-conservation aspects of forest birds. The main aim of the publication is to enlarge knowledge on birds’ research among common people and raise awarnes on importance of biodiversity conservation.

2.
Manipulation of insect signaling for monitoring and control of pest insects.

In 2009 members of programme group prepared three chapters in three books, published by Nova Science, Academic Press in Springer. The authores present the up-to-date overview on application of different signals during pest control in insects. In the focus of their presentation were transport of signals by means of vibrations, especially in plants as a medium for vibrational communication.

3.
Coevolution - interspecific interations as a driving force of natural assemblages evolution.

Invited lecture at international conference in which theoretical description of impact of interspecific interactions on the evolution of species and assemblages was given. The role of coevolution in natural ecosystems was presented and how it is reflecting in a theory of interspecific interactions.

4.
Habitat use by Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra) on spring migration

In the research we focused on a phenomenon of feeding in a flock and effects of habitats on a migration route of Whincat alon SE Adriatic coast. For hanbitat description we used 5 different morphological characteristics. Hunting posts appeared to be the most important element, which determine exploitation of habitats in patchy cultural landscape. Most of the birds feeed in a group and intensity of feeding increased with flock size.
