Improved lateral discrimination in screening the elemental composition of buckwheat grain by micro-PIXE

A detailed element localization study of pericarp layers revealed that the inner layer was enriched in K, Mn, Ca, and Fe, while the outer layer showed enrichments in Na, Mg, P, S, and Al. On the basis of the data obtained, milling techniques can be adapted to obtain milling fractions with targeted nutritional values.

The genus Fallopia in Slovenia

We investigated the representatives of genus Fallopia in Slovenia, their properties, occurrence, hybridization, distribution and ecology. Special attention was paid to the hybrid of, F. japonica and F. sachalinensis, F. x bohemica, which was recently recorded in Slovenia forming monospecific stands. All three Fallopia taxa are invasive aliens, therefore the knowledge on strategies of invasions and possibilities for their control is crucial to prevent their spreading.

Distribution of Se and its species in Myriophyllum spicatum and Ceratophyllum demersum growing in water containing se (vi)

Se is present in agricultural drainage waters. We studied the uptake of Se (VI) by aquatic plants, Myriophyllum spicatum and Ceratophyllum demersum. The amount of soluble Se compounds in enzyme extracts ranged from 16% to 26% in control, and in high Se solution from 48% to 36% in M. spicatum and C. demersum, respectively that indicate effective accumulation of Se and possibiliti to use both species in fitoremediation.
