Ecological Footprint Of Oil Pumpkin And False Flax Production – The Case For Organic And Biodynamic Farming

Rising energy prices and climate change intensified the search for alternative farming systems where the environmental impact and energy consumption per unit will be lowered. Results from the first year show a significantly lower ecological footprint of both, ORG and BD, systems in production of oil pumpkins (Cucurbita pepo var. Styriaca L.) and false flax (Camelina sativa L.), mainly due to non-use of external production factors, like mineral fertilizers and pesticides.

Sensory properties of red beet from different farming systems

In recent years the importance of food quality has increased, but there is still lack of research in this field. Sensory properties are also one of the characteristics that determine the quality of food. Organic food is considered to be tastier, but results of surveys are sometimes contradictory.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) : An emerging viral pathogen.

In this chapter we described the role of HEV as new emerging pathogen as well as new detection methods of its diagnostics and preventive measures in the food chain. We have for the first time achieved the efficient multiplication of this virus in the cell culture system that will enable the easier detection of infectivity of this virus as well as mechanisma behind its life cycle

Extraordinary mineral waters: promising results

In this interview we described the promising results of the research conducted with the natural mineral waters. We clearly showed that natural mineral waters have the potential as health promoters, especially at the level of bioavailability and transport of minerals as well as the positive effect on the immune system. The best potentials has the mineral water Radenska Classic.
