Center of excellence CIPKEBIP

ANG The Centre of Excellence CIPKeBiP will connect the top available expertise, knowhow, and technology of Slovenian research laboratories in protein science, thus emphasizing biomedical relevance of the applied project (priority health and life sciences). The Centre is coordinated by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular and Structural Biology at Jožef Stefan Institute. Five academic and five industrial groups are participating in the Centre, thereby providing an important link between academia and industry.

The conference covered two important aspects of host factors associated with health and disease, namely the immune response and gut microbiota. Immunity part addressed antigen recognition, molecular mechanisms participating in early immune response development and gut immune response. Microbiota part included the role of microbiota in immunity, in protection from pathogens and in development of some metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes).
