Method for a synthesis of quasi one-dimensional structures of 4d and 5d (Nb, Mo Ta, W) transition metals

The subject of the invention is a method for a synthesis of one-dimensional structures, such as nanowires, microwires and nanobelts of 4d and 5d transition metals (Nb, Mo Ta, W). The invention belongs to the field of inorganic chemistry and chemistry of transition metals. The invention refers to a synthesis of quasi one-dimensional structures of transition metals by using a method of conversion of quasi one-dimensional compounds with a submicron cross-section of nanowires described with formula M6CyHz, 8,2(y+z 10, wherein M is a transition metal (Nb, Mo Ta, W), C is a chalcogen (sulphur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te)); H is a halogen (iodine (I)) by heating in the presence of hydrogen. Potential application of nanowires, microwires and nanobelts is mostly in the field of nano-electronics and for special composites.

Method for a synthesis of quasi one-dimensional structures of 4d and 5d (Nb, Mo Ta, W) transition metals nitrides

Invention describes the procedure for a synthesis of one-dimensional nitrides, such as nanowires, microwires and nanobelts of 4d and 5d transition metals (Nb, Mo Ta, W). The synthesis is performed by the reaction of quasi one-dimensional structures of transition metal compounds with a submicron cross-section of nanowires described with formula M6CyHz, 8,2(y+z 10, wherein M is a transition metal (Nb, Mo Ta, W), C is a chalcogen (sulphur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te)); H is a halogen (iodine (I)) by heating in the presence of ammonia.

Surface modifications of carbon materials by NF[sub]3 and ClF[sub]3

We studied surface structure and electrochemical characteristics of various carbon materials (petrolium coke, natural graphite, vapour grown carbon fibers) treated by ClF3 and NF3 different temperatures to improve their charge/discharge characteristics as anodes for secondary lithium battery.

On the attractiveness of using pure plant oil as fuel for vehicle propulsion

Chapter about the attractiveness of pure plant oil as fuel for vehicles, published in overall CIVITAS ELAN project monograph. Chapter describes organization of the measure, concept of measure evaluation, evaluation results obtained and social implications of the results. It was concluded that there are no serious technical obstacles to use plant oil as a fuel, serious economy-political obstacle remains the duty tax on plant oil as fuel for vehicles considering it as a fossil fuel, despite this is not the case.

Preparation and characterisation of some coordination compounds with metal fluorides

Series of different coordination compounds with XeF2 coordinated to metal centre were published during the last years. Form the group 12 only coordination compounds with Zn2+ or Cd2+ as metal centres are known. Current research was focused on the Hg2+ in order to further study influence of anion on the coordination of XeF2 to the metal centre. Anions used were BF4-, AsF6- and SbF6-. A variety of coordination compounds were prepared and characterized by Raman and their crystal structures were determined.
