P1-0045 — Annual report 2010
1.
Organization of the 16th European Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry; 16th ESFC in Ljubljana, 18. – 23. 7. 2010.

ESFC symposia are organized every three years and are besides international symposia on fluorine chemistry (ISFC) the most important meetings of fluorine society. The symposium was interesting for researchers from universities, institutes and industry. There were 333 participants at the symposium. Following members of the research group participated at the organization of the event: T. Skapin (chairman), M. Tramšek (co-chair), B. Žemva (honorary chairman and chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board) and A. Koblar, R. Moravec, T. Oblak, G. Tavčar (members of the organizing committee).

2.
Removal of Hg0 from flue gases in wet FGD by catalytic oxidation with air: an experimental study

Experimental determination of chemical mechanisms of the oxidation of metallic Hg in the wet FGD with oxygen; oxidized two-valent Hg is perfectly soluble in water phase and is retained in FGD.

F.04 Increase of the technological level

COBISS.SI-ID: 23598375
3.
Improvement of management of radioactive waste from small producers

We have studied and developed technology for drying of larger amounts of low and medium level radioactive waste during the project »Conditioning of radioactive waste of small producers«

F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills

COBISS.SI-ID: 24590375
4.
Consultation services for the process safety given to the industry and competent authorities

In the area of the process safety management (industrial risks) and reliability management of the process/equipment we provided consultation services to the industry and related competent state authorities. With different clients (companies, agencies) we were involved in updated to their Safety Management Systems and related Safety Reports needed for the licensing procedures. With Ministry for environment and spatial planning of Slovenia we were involved in updates of the expert opinions related to the process safety aspects for the planned LNG terminals in the Gulf of Trieste.

F.23 Development of new system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods

COBISS.SI-ID: 23842599
5.
Bridging the gap between the results and needs among the risk analysis and land use planning processes and procedures.

Overview of the procedure of the process safety risk assessment and process of the land use planning/plan is presented and reasons and solutions to the gaps due data needed is given. New approach is suggested and explained.

F.26 Improvements to existing organisational structure and managerial solutions
