3D analysis of stress and strain fields around coal exploitation area

The paper presents the results of analysis of impact advancing longwall coal mining on surrounding rocks using the 3D Finite Difference Method. The geometric data preparation was done using a computer program that allows fast construction of large networks of 3D Finite Difference incl. more than 355,500. Extensive numerical simulations of mining exploitation developments, which have been made for the analysis of impact coal mining on mine road ways in Velenje Mine showed that it is possible to use more constitutive models to analyze several caved and re-compressed hanging wall layers.

Numerical analysis of geomechanical processes in coal mining using the Velenje mining method

The method of sublevel coal extraction requires multi caving of the hanging wall ground layers, which are recompressed, and in sublevel stoping each time represents a hanging wall. By accepting geomechanical principals in following caving processes with Velenje mining method by above ground acquisition, there are mutual connections made, between geomechanical parameters of the occurring geological materials in connection with the intensity of coal mining. A present numerical model which was developed, allows deep analyses of geomechanical processes during sublevel coal excavation.

Geomechanical analysis of multicaved and recompressed hangingwall using the Velenje coal mining method

Velike spremembe napetostno deformacijskih stanj v okolici odkopavanja premoga predstavljajo tveganje za rudarje, saj lahko pride do porušitve v jamskih progah. Uporabljen numerični model, ki omogoča izdelavo poglobljenih analiz geomehanskih procesov v krovnini, premogovem sloju in talnini, ki so posledica odkopavanja, je ustrezen za izvedbo tovrstnih analiz ob upoštevanju intenzitete razvoja odkopa ter služi za realno planiranje pridobivanja premoga ob zagotovljenih predpisanih varnostnih razmerah za rudarje.

Analysis of highproduction coal mining on intensity of hangingwall caving

Coal extraction by using high productive longwalls causes intensive caving process into the hangingwall ground layers. The design and implementation of a numerical model, which has the basic foundation in graphic design in AutoCAD, are inspired by its detailed analysis observations of the working process in the longwalls. Using specific designed applications, relating to this model, it has been able to transform it to a form, recognized by computer code PFC.

Computational models of geomechanical mechanisms for safe sublevel coal mining in Velenje Coal Mine

Invited lecture at the Techische Universität Clausthal - Germany was regarding to explanation of the research results work on geomechanical analysis using numerical model of safe sublevel coal mining at the Velenje Coal Mine with emphasis on influence analysis of different caving process on the sourounding ground layers during the upper part of coal slice was executed. Results of comprehensive numerical analyses were compared with measured parameters in Velenje Coal Mine.
