International Scientific Conference "Freedom and Democracy"

Between 4.-6. december 2008 an international conference was held in Koper in cooperation with the Universitzy of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities Koper, Dept. of Politics and International Relations, Swansea University and Dept. of Philosophy, Martin Luther Universitat Halle-Wittenberg. The conference organizer and president of the international program committee was dr. Lenart Škof.

In a dialogue for democracy : R. M. Unger's pragmatist vision of democratic experimentalism and exploration of democracy in Luce Irigaray

The paper focuses on R.M. Unger's pragmatist vision of democratic experimentalism and its possible application to the area of contemporary intercultural philosophy. The paper connects the field of American pragmatism’s political and social thought (Dewey, Rorty, Unger) with the contemporary pressing issues of intercultural philosophy. In the second part, Unger’s philosophy is put into a dialogue with the philosophy of Luce Irigaray.
