Comparison of paired cervical scrape and tumor tissue samples for detection of human papillomaviruses in patients with cervical cancer.

We compared how cervical scrape samples correlate with cervical tissue samples in detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes in patients with cervical cancer. Overall correlation was 98.75%. We have found that cervical scrape samples are equally accurate as tissue samples for detection of HPV genotypes in cervical cancer.
