Depression screening in family medicine clinics – from the problem to the proposal of a national programme.

Based on the predictions about the incidence of depression in patients of family medicine clinics, a proposal for a screening method is made, which assumes that individual general/family medicine doctors will, during the pilot (trial) period, conduct a screening programme among their patients once a year for all patient with chronic diseases (approximately 40%) and for all women between 45 and 55 years of age (approximately 8% - women with no chronic diseases).
