1.
The effects of dental grinding and sandblasting on ageing and fatigue behavior of dental zirconia (Y-TZP) ceramics

Dental grinding introduces surface cracks which lower the biaxial flexural strength and the survival rate under cyclic loading. Sandblasting, in contrast, introduces surface compressive stressess thereby increasing the strength and the suvival rate. Sandblasting also has a potential of hindering the ageing prosess under simulated clinical conditions.

2.
Ageing and fatigue behaviour of surface treated Y-TZP dental ceramics

Accelerated ageing of Y-TZP ceramics prior to mechanical fatigue testing substantially reduces the survival rate. Materials and processing variables influence the machanical properties and stzress-induced transformation, whereas their influence on the hydrothermal stability is statistically insignificant.
