L2-1222 — Final report
1.
Application oh highly dissociated weakly ionized cold oxygen plasma

The project leader gave an invited talk at the symposium organized by the fourth largest American university. He presented broad application of cold oxygen plasma from nanoscience to fusion reactors with a special emphasis on modification of surface properties of polymer materials.

2.
President of international conference

The project leader was the president of the 2nd International Conference on Advanced Plasma Technologies, and the editor of conference proceedings. This is a conference specialized in modification of advanced materials with non-equilibrium plasma. Most contributed papers were in the field of modification of polymer materials with gaseous plasma.

3.
Characterization of particle distribution and orientation in solid media : [invited talk].

The project leader gave an invited lecture at this speciallized conference on advanced materials, and was also the chairman of a scientific session. Over 800 participants attended this conference and the project leader was the only Slovenian. He presented an original method for determination of nanoparticles in polymer films. The method is based on polymer film treatment with oxygen plasma and works only in the limited range of plasma parameters.

4.
Improvement of polythylene terephthalate (PET) material properties by plasma treatment.

Our young researcher received the best poster award at this international conference. She presented original results on surface modification of PET polymer using moderately reactive oxygen plasma. AFM and XPS techniques were applied for surface analyses. The extremely high surface energy of this polymer was attributed to plasma treatment with the right combination of oxygen atoms and positively charged ions.

5.
Extremely non-equilibrium oxygen plasma : a suitable tool for modification surface properties solid materials

The head of the project was invited to give lectures at one of the biggest Chinese universities. At the Institute of Plasma Sciences he lectured on thermodynamical non-equilibrium states of polimer surfaces treated by oxygen plasma.
