Polyester biomaterial with the antithrombogen properties surface and it’ s working out procedure

The patents' objective is a polyester, preferentially poliethylene(terephtalate) biomaterial, treated in the way, which enables coating with two layers. The first layer consists from chitosan and serves as a basic layer for the second layer. Second layer is made from sulphonated polysaccharide, which has anticoagulative properties, preferentially fucoidan.

PET surfaces modified by polysaccharides for medical application.

Different biopolymers of polysaccharide origin with special bioactive properties were used in order to achieve better surface biocompatibility of the PET material. The adsorption of Chitosan, chitosan derivative (chitosan 6-O-sulfate) and sulphated polysaccharide fucoidan onto the activated PET surface under different conditions was monitored using QCM. The results of in-vitro measurements showed that PET surface modification using sulphated polysaccharides significantly improve its biocompatibility.
