Doctor's thesis examines the role of motivation for education and competitiveness as causal factors or moderators of self-handicapping behavior. Different signifivant effects of independents have been faund and interpreted in the light of contemporaneous cognitivne and psychosocial theories of self-concept and self-handicap.

The study investigates personal goals and trait emotional intelligence as predictors of different domains of life-satisfaction. Different significant effects have been found between predictor sets and dependents, demonstrating thus the explainability of substantial amounts of the variance in life-satisfaction by the variables of personal goals and emotional intelligence.
