Plant stress induced by abiotic factors

Our research of plant stress, which comprises processes related to ethylene (e.g. abscission, senescence), involved studies on oxidative stress induced by heavy metals. A duckweed (Lemna minor ) proved to be a suitable model system for early heavy metal detection in waters polluted by metals. We also published the first characterization of the gene from the PR-5 group from flax and its differential expression in different tissues of healthy and ethylene treated plants. We introduced and optimized a method for in situ hybridization.
