The effect of electroporation on gene expression assessed by DNA microarray

The effect of electroporation on the expression profile of genes in malignant melanoma cells is currently unknown. We demonstrated that the expression profile of tumour supressor genes or oncogenes is not affected by electric pulses used in electrochemotherapy or electrogenetherapy. Our results support the evidence that electroporation is a safe method and does not affect gene expression profile in melanoma cells.

Limb sparing treatment of bleeding melanoma recurrence by electrochemotherapy.

Electroporation alone and electrochemotherapy have an effect on tumor vsculature, which can be exploited for cancer treatment. Bleeding metastases pose a serious clinical problem. In the study we have described a clinical case of bleeding metastases treated by electrochemotherapy. Single treatment stopped bleeding and had good antitumor effect.
