Pathogeomics of increased Clostridium difficile virulence

Project within ERANET PathoGenOmics aims to study development and characteristcs of C. difficile strains with increased virulence (associated with outbreaks or severe disease) with comparative genomocs approach. The consortium is composed by six groups from five EU countries (Portugal, France, Germany, Austria, Slovenia).

Severe Clostridium difficile associated disease in children.

C. difficile infection in children is rare. In this paper we describe three epidemiologicaly unlinked cases of severe infections in childen and discuss the need for appropriate recognition of the disease which is important for correct treatment.
