Intermediate filaments attenuate stimulation-dependent mobility of endosomes/lysosomes in astrocytes

We here investigated whether intermediate filament (IF) proteins upregulation affect the mobility of different types of intracellular vesicles. The results show that IFs differentially affect the mobility of vesicles under normal and in pathologic conditions, which may have distinct functional implications of astrocytes.

Fused late endocytic compartments and immunostimulatory capacity of dendritic-tumor cell hybridomas.

We here investigated whether the level of fused late endocytic compartments, which are part of antigen presenting pathway affects the immunostimulatory capacity of hybridomas obtained by the electrofusion of dendritic and tumor cells. The results showed that cytotoxic T cell responses are enhanced, if a higher percentage of fused late endocytic compartments is present in the cell population of electrofused samples. We concluded that the level of fused lysosomes in electrofused samples significantly affect the immunostimulatory capacity of hybridomas.

Trafficking of astrocytic vesicles in hippocampal slices

Astrocytic vesicles were specifically labeled and their mobility was recorded with two-photon microscopy in hippocampal slices. The results showed that the vesicle mobility parameters (velocity, maximal displacement and track length) recorded in astrocytes from tissue slices are similar to those reported previously in cultured astrocytes.

Physiopathologic dynamics of vesicle traffic in astrocytes

Astrocytes are the most common type of cell in the brain and play an important role in regulating the function of neurons. In this article we reviewed traffic properties of different types of vesicles in astrocytes and its response to physiological regulation.
