Photon management and yield in PV devices

Invited lecture at the 6th Workshop on the Future Direction of Photovoltaics (Tokyo, Japan, March 1-2, 2010) has focused on managment of photons and manipulation techniques for maximization of energy yield in solar cells and photovoltaic modules.

MIDEM 2009 - 45th Int. Conf. on Microelectronics, Devices and Materials and the Workshop on Advanced Photovoltaic Devices and Technologies

The MIDEM 2009 Conference and joint Workshop on Advanced Photovoltaic Devices and Technologies continued the tradition of annual international meetings organized by the MIDEM Society. There were 6 conference sessions: Materials, technology and devices, Electronics, Optoelectronics, Thin and thick films, Integrated circuits, Sensorsand actuators and in the conference workshop, where different topics related to material science combined with device engineering, advanced technologies and photovoltaic systems for efficient conversion of solar energy to electricity were covered.

Simulator FEMOS 2-D

In 2008 the first version of the prototype of the optical simulator FEMOS 2D was finished. The simulator enables the analysis of light propagation in thin-film solar cells with periodically textured interfaces. Further up-grades are underway and as a final product can be sold to selected manufacturers of thin-film solar cells (like SunShine simulator previously). The developed simulator is planed to be used in the activities within new European projects of FP7 (Silicon-Light 2010-2013 and others)

2rd Slovenian Photovoltaic Conference

Practically, all members of the research project have been involved in organisation of the second Slovenian Photovoltaic Conference (SLO-PV 2008, http//slo-pv.fe.uni-lj.si) which took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. At the conference the subject of advanced concepts of thin-film solar cells was presented partially (in the frame of the lecture on dye-sensitized solar cells). We hosted more than 240 participants.
