J1-0823 — Final report
1.
Effects of selected neurotoxic insecticides on vibrational communication of the southern green stink bug .

The responsible coordinator of the project Dr. Andrej Čokl is mentor to 3 young researchers and is the educational mentor of 6 PhD students.

D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students

COBISS.SI-ID: 1336059
2.
Editor of the international scientific journal Bulletin of entomological research..

The collaborator of the project team Dr. Meta Virant-Doberlet is the editor of the highly ranked scientific journal Bulletin of entomological research.

C.04 Editorial board of an international magazine

COBISS.SI-ID: 3144463
3.
Auditory and vibratory sense of crickets.

Department of Entomology introduces in Slovenia laser technology in the field of sensing of biological vibrations. These studies are enabled by the use of laser measuring equipment produced by the biggest producer in Europe, F. Polytec. In its journal Polytec published the article which describes the potential use of laser vibrometers in sensing, recording and anylsing of the substrate-borne sound in insects.

F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice

COBISS.SI-ID: 28169433
4.
Structure-borne sound in insects.

The responsible coordinator of the project Dr. Andrej Čokl presented at the workshop of the European Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) plants as transmission medium for insect communication signals. Experiences and know-how of the Department of Entomology in the field of substrate-borne sound are the basis of cooperation of the group in the Q-DETECT project of the EU 7th Framework Programme in which Dr. Andrej Čokl coordinates its 6th WP.

F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)

COBISS.SI-ID: 25876185
5.
Vibrational signalling in the non-hearing cave cricket and corresponding responses of neurons in the ventral nerve chord and the brain.

At the international congress of neuroethology in Salamca (Spain) the collaborator of the project team Dr. Natasa Stritih represented vibrational signals of cave crickets and their function in sensing of these signals in the ventral cord and brain.

F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
