Reduced tumour cell proliferation and delayed development of high-grade mammary carcinomas in cathepsin B-deficient mice.

Influence of cathepsin B knockout on cancer progression of PyMT mouse cancer model was tested. It was observed that deletion of cathepsin B reduced metastatic burden and cell proliferation in mammary carcinomas.

Dual contrasting roles of cysteine cathepsins in cancer progression : apoptosis versus tumour invasion.

This mini review provides an insight into the mechanisms by which cysteine cathepsins modulate apoptosis and participate in tumor invasion.

Synergistic antitumor effects of combined cathepsin B and cathepsin Z deficiencies on breast cancer progression and metastasis in mice.

We have studied the effects of cathepsin B and cathepsin Z double knockout on breast cancer progression and methastasis formation was studied. It was found that combined loss of both cathepsins resulted in significant delay of tumor formation and the number of lung methastases. It was concluded, that double deficiency exerts synergistic anticancer effects
