Epidemiological study of avian influenza and west Nile virus in birds in Slovenia

Among 1907 examined wild birds 16 of them were positive for low pathogenic avian infleunza viruses. In most cases the aquatic wild birds were the positive ones: mallards, mute swans, a common snipe, a great cormorant and a starling. Infections with HPAI were confirmed in mute swans, grey herons, a mallard and the first time in Europe also in a pintail

Characterization of monoclonal antibodies against avian flu virus H5N1 : graduation thesis,

Purpose of this research was to select and accurately characterize the most appropriate antibodies. 3D modulation of antigen binding site in the variable regions of antibodies was also our target. 16 different influenza A viruses were tested against the prepared antibodies with iDIBA test. The presence of heavy and light chains of antibodies was verified.by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis and western blot transfer. W

Evaluation of RNA isolation methods for the detection of influenza A viruses in different environmental samples by real time RT-PCR

So far, only a few data about the resistance of the AIV in the environment exist. The purpose of our work was to develop an efficiant molecilar method for AIV detection which enables us to trace the virus in complex environmental samples. Different RNA isolation methods were tested.
