L2-9657 — Final report
1.
Characterization of particle distribution and orientation in solid media

The project leader gave an invited lecture at this highly speciallized conference which coveres the field of nano and micro particles. At this particular lecture, an original method for revealing the distribution and orientation of particles in solid materials was presented. The method is based on application of reactive oxygen plasma created in the plasma reactor that has been constructed in the frame of this project.

2.
Synthesis of metal oxide nanowires by oxygen plasma treatment

The project leader gave an invited talk at this conference that is organized bi-anually and attracts over 500 scientists worldwide. He presented the advantage of the original method for synthesis of metal oxide nanowires and its possible applications in optical devices.

Method for improving the electrical connection properties of the surface of a product made from a polymer-matrix composite

Massive production of commutators with our originally developed technology takes place at our industrial partner for years. The technology is based on interaction of oxygen plasma with composite materials and the holders are large metallic trays. The behavior of these trays during treatment with oxygen plasma was investigated in the frame this project. The research allowed for development of a method for modification of the trays and thus prevention drom destruction due to exposure to aggressive oxygen plasma.

Quantification of neutral atoms in processing plasmas

We presented our original method for measuring condcentration of neutral oxygen atoms at this extremely aplicatively oriented conference. Several examples were presented to illustrate the rarely known fact that plasma parameters change spontaneously during processing of materials in plasma reactors. We clearly showed that real-time measuring of plasma parameters is necessary in order to follow plasma processing. We also stressed the advantages of nanostructured catalytic probe that has been developed recently in our labs in the frame of this project.

5.
Analysis of bacteria damages caused by treatment with oxygen plasma particles

The project leader was the supervisor of 6 PhD students in the past three years. They all performed research on plasma surface interaction. Despite the fact that each student performed research on modification of his own particular material, a major part of their work is closely related with this project. Namely, in all cases the students worked on application of reactive oxygen plasma to achieve particular results.
