1.
Method for topochemical modification of cotton fibres.

The increased amount of charge that can be achieved by means of topochemical modification of cotton fibers by use of the carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) can improve mechanical as well as adsorption properties of the cellulose. The treated cotton fibers receive higher number of carboxyl groups than the original cotton fibers consequently the fibers have better sorption capacity for cationic surfactant as well as better mechanical properties.

3.
Fubctionalizatuon of fibres using CMC.

In the diploma work the influence of functionalization with CMC on the cotton properties , especially of fibre total charge and fibre hydrophilicity was analysed. The results are quite promising due to the fact that fibre adsorption capacity increases as well as hydrophilicity. Mechanical properties are improved as well.
