The basic principles of material degradomics were presented, leading to development of a new technique for identification and quality assessment of historic materials during degradation. On the basis of this development, new non-destructive and portable instrumentation can be developed for the purpose.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 33268997In an invited talk, the end-user representative introduced the most important achievements of the research project and stressed their importance in safeguarding cultural heritage. In front of a numerous audience, he stressted the value of international collabroation and of the research for his own institution and for development of international standards and good practices in conservation of archival and library collections.
F.27 Contribution to preserving/protecting natural and cultural heritage
COBISS.SI-ID: 30114309In front of more than 200 end-user representatives in an elite institution (British Museum), the reserach was presented, which later led to the publication in Analytical Chemistry. The congress series "Mass spectroscopy and chromatograhy users group" represents an association of several hundred users of this technique in studies of historic materials.
F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)
COBISS.SI-ID: 30382853At a conference attended by many end-users, the most important results of the research project were presented, particularly in view of development of new environmental standards in the partner institutions itself, and in CEN bodies. The CEN discussions are namely fully developed and our research will contribute to forumation of technical issues in air quality in repositories.
F.31 Development of standards
COBISS.SI-ID: 29640965In the invited presentation, we presented an overview of knowledge and scientific findings in the rapidly developing heritage science domain. In the frame of this overview, we presented the PaperVOC project and benchmarked it against Framework Projects and other international initiatives. From the viewpoint of significance, the PaperVOC project is among the most influential ones.
