Re-Thinking Minority: Slovenians in Italy and the Common Slovenian Cultural Space after the Fall of the Border

In this context, three meetings with representatives of Slovenians living in Italy were organized on the occasion of the European Researchers' Day in Špeter, Gorizia and Trieste in September 2008. In cooperation with the Slovenian Research Institute and the umbrella organizations of Slovenians in Italy (SKGZ and SSO), we discussed the main results of the project and examined the possibilities to increase social connections between the home country and the Slovenian community in Italy.

Discovering the Local Neighbourhood-The Role of Slov.Science&Slov.Scientists in Italy in Promoting Intercult. Dialogue&Soc.Integr. between Slo and Ita

The aim of the sci. meeting (Nov. 2008), was to enhance the connection between Slov. researchers of minority issues and research institutes of the neighb. countries. After Slovenia's accession to the Schengen area, the need for the promotion of Slov. science &demonst. of Slov.research results in studying integration processes, along with models of multiculturalism and soc. integration in the areas of contact between Slov.and neighbouring cultural and scientific environments, seems to be all the more necessary&useful. The UP, in coop.with SLORI organized a public presentation&discussion.
