MATJAŠIČ FRIŠ, Mateja, "the Powers are Waning, as there is Hope no More, this Art, what it is?"

The original scientific paper presents unknown information about life and work of the Slovene painter, Franc Berneker (1874-1932). Franc Berneker, who studied and spent most of his life in Vienna, is publicly known as the first Slovenian modern sculptor and the author of the most beautiful monument to Primož Trubar in Ljubljana. Even in his time he was thought to be an extremely talented sculptor, unable to fulfil his artistic mission because of his unfortunate destiny. The paper is based on archives and Berneker’s correspondence.
