The former Yugoslavia's diverse peoples : a reference sourcebook

Scientific monograph deals with the influence ethnic dimensions and structure of the population on historical developments (from the 6th century to 2004) in the region of the former Yugoslavia. It focuses on the dissolution of the SFRY. Published by the respected foreign publisher and reviewed in scholarly literature it presents also Slovene views of these developments. It is available in more then 300 American university libraries and is used as reading in (post)graduate university study programs. By means of psycho-analytically oriented methodological approach it analyses scientific, literary and interview texts, and art works (focusing on the ‘experience’ of mass traumas and multiple/hybrid identities), implying the latent image of ‘birth-as-death’ and ‘death-as-birth’. ‘Primeval horror’ surfaces in times evoking individual or social »breakup«, dividing the present from past. Between the nation and politics: Political participation of Carinthian Slovenes

Building on the principle that minorities alone should determine their political organization and participation considering internal plurality of minorities it concludes that any ‘enforcement from the outside’ might prove to be counterproductive. It analyses Austrian minority and political reality and organization – focusing on party organization and electoral legislation that forces Slovene minority into a kind of ‘artificial dialogue’. So, you tell me who I am!? Study on ethnic diversity in the Municipality of Ljubljana

Scholarly monograph, based on empirical data of the research project ‘Perceptions of Slovene integration policy’, addresses issues (e.g. citizenship (nationality), public use of language, education, culture, information, political representation, employment, contacts with “kin-nations/states”, EU etc.) relevant for the integration of immigrants/‘new minorities’ into Slovene society in a way that would ensure the preservation and expression of their culture/identity. Slovenes in Bosnia-Herzegovina through testimonies, memories and literary images: 1831-2007

The book presents the presence of Slovenehood in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout history from the Ottoman rule through Austro-Hungarian occupation and annexation, the two Yugoslav states to the independence of the Bosnia-Herzegovina. Identified are several hundreds of people, who felt and declared themselves as Slovenes, or were regarded as such in B-H. It includes about 300 photographs, illustrations and other documentary materials. It was presented at several press conferences in Slovenia and B-H, provoking interest of several institutions.
