Grey cast iron represent a serious load for cutting-tool materials during dry high-speed cutting (HSC) due to the material's unique combination of properties, such as high toughness, ductility,hard inclusions and chemical wear resistance. The improved machinability of such grey cast iron during HSC can be achieved by combining the appropriate tool material and machining technology adjusted to the part requirements defined by a cus.

Titanium and titanium alloy applications in medicine

The use of titanium alloys as biomaterials has been growing due to their reduced elastic modulus, superior biocompatibility, high strength to weight ratio and enhanced corrosion resistance when compared to more conventional stainless steel and Co-Cr alloys. Ti-6Al-4V (and Ti-6Al-4V ELI), the most common titanium alloy is still the most extensively used titanium alloy for medical applications.

Simulation of workpiece forming and centre displacement in plunge centreless grinding

Centerless grinding process can be more effective, flexible and more productive if parameters set-up times of the process are lowered. This goal can be achieved with development of the simulation model, which supports different set-up of the machining system. Analytical modeling of the centerless grinding process is described in the paper.
