Dynamic training of posture and balance

The “Balance trainer” is a newly developed standing device which combines safe standing as well as training of stability in the trunk. Persons, which are not (yet) able to stand safe by their own, are held stable in legs and hips and are at the same time able to move the hips in all sides.

An original tracking system for the assessment and training of grip force control was developed. The system consists of two measuring objects enabling assessment of power and precision grip.

Measurements of mechanical thermostat membrane expansion

A methodology and system were developed for measuring mechanical thermostat membrane expansion. Much improved supervision of the process, higher quality, repeatability and very high yield resulted in yearly savings of 133.000 EUR.

Robot measurements in casting

The work is covering a system for non contact dimensional measurement of a gray-iron grate by use of a laser dot triangulation displacement sensor and an industrial SCARA robot. The results show that dimensional measurements on a grate, at 88 points, can be performed within 45 s and with 0,3 mm accuracy, which proved to be sufficient for robot deburring of gray-iron grates.

Optical deflection measuring system

A system for accurate real-time measurement of deflections was developed. Experiments using interferometers were conducted in a climate controlled chamber to evaluate system performance and verify the accuracy. A resolution of 0.1 um is attainable in dynamic measurements.
