Designation of the status of the Slovenian national measurement standard laboratory on the field of thermodynamic temperature

In the year 1998 the group, on the tender of Ministry of Science and Technology, has been awarded the status of the national measurement standard laboratory for the field of thermodynamic, as the best laboratory in the field in the country. All the activities are accredited (www.gov.si/sa code LK-002, www.rva.nl codes K108 and R 014) and coverl the needs in Slovenia and surrounding countries and countries of Western Balkan area (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia and Macedonia).

Coordination of the EU project

The programme group has coordinated FP 5 EU project – INCOLAB (INitiative and CO-ordination to prepare LABoratories in Newly Associated States for full implementation of the Low-Voltage Directive), G7RT-CT-2002-5106, dealing with testing of safety of household appliances, covered by the LVD directive (Low Voltage Directive), developing of new concepts in testing of safety of electrical appliances and testing methodology in broadest sense.

Accreditation of the laboratory in accordance with SIST ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 standards

Yearly check by the accreditation bodies SA and RvA ensures that all of our activities that we perform as calibration laboratory and testing laboratory are accredited and traceable in accordance with SIST ISO/IEC 17025. We were also accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020 as a inspection body for blood pressure metersand Proficiency testing (ILAC Guide 13).

Patent in the area of electromagnetic measurements

Design, manufacture and patent procedure for the special version of hot permeameter for the measurement of magnetic materials properties at higher temperatures (above 400 °C) has been conducted. Patented instrument enables magnetic properties of the materials measurements at higher temperatures as it was prior to the patent. As a result, magnetic materials usage can be broadened to industrial and technological processes in different industries (automotive and airplane industry).

Member of expert working group for development of standards (medical instrumentation-clinical thermometers and non-invasive blood pressure meters)

Part of the scientific work of dr. Igorja Pušnik, member of the expert working group for the preparation of the ISO standard for the clinical thermometers - ISO/TC 121 JWG 8 Clinical thermometers, has been included in DIS version of the ISO standard as a reference (COBISS.SI-ID 4147540, 4334932, 5062740). Gregor Geršak is member of the expert working group for the preparation of ISO standard for non-invasive blood pressure meters - ISO/TC 121, SC 03, JWG 7 Non-invasive sphygmomanometers.
