Invited lectures for achievements in the field of hyperbranched polymers are international recognition of of the group: IUPAC International symposium on advanced polymers for emerging technologies, Busan, Korea, 2006; 3rd International symposium on the separation & characterizatin of natural&synthetic macromolecules, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2007; 2nd International symposium on nanostructured and functional polymer-based materials and composites, Lyon, France, 2006; 1st European chemistry congress, Budapest, Hungary, 2006; European polymer congress 2007, Portorož, Slovenia.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 3648794M. Žigon has been a national representative to European Polymer Federation (EPF) in 2000-2008 and was a president of EPF in 2006-2007. She has also been a national representative (of all together 10) to Polymer Division of IUPAC in 2008-2009.
D.03 Membership in foreign/international boards/committees
COBISS.SI-ID: 3821594The organization of the European Polymer Congress 2007 was given to Slovenia and Prof. Majda Žigon, a president of the European Polymer Federation (EPF) in years 2006-2007. She was the organizer of the conference and head of Scientific as well as organizing Committees. The Congress hosted 824 participants from 49 countries with altogether 850 contributions in the eight sessions, among which there were 15 plenary and 90 invited lectures. A round table on polymer education was also organized providing some observations on the advantages and drawbacks of implementing the Bologna process.

COBISS.SI-ID: 28753669The patent describes the preparation of an innovative proton conducting polymer membrane for use in fuel cells. The innovation is in its composition that is based on a blend of a fluorinated polymer or other highly stable soluble polymers and a complex mixture of organic salts, a heteropoly acid and silica nanoparticles. The functional advantage of the membrane is a high proton conductivity at low humidity or in the absence of water above 100 °C. The patent is important for the production of a new generation of high-temperature proton conducting membranes.
F.32 International patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 2986522In cooperation with the company Julon d.d. we worked on the project "Matrix, inovative fiber of future, MTX". New fibre combines good properties of propilen fibres and can be coloured as polyamide fibre. In this project we have studied the influence of processing parameters on the morphology of the fibres and mechanical properties. New fibre is a big qualitative step in production as well as technological advantage, which will enable Julon d.d. to enter sport confection market.
