Characterisation of crystallisation in amorphous soft magnetic Fe74Si11B14Ni1 powders by EBSD method

Recrystallization of amorphous powder was studied using multi-technique approach based on electron beams, It has been found that annealing of the amorphous Fe-Si-B powder at a temperature of 500 degrees C leads to the formation of alpha-Fe phase in the form of two, three and four-branch dendritic grains. The Fe2B boride is crystallised at temperatures of over 500 degrees C.

Electrochemical and XPS studies of the passive film formed on stainless steels in borate buffer and chloride solutions

The passive films established on the two stainless steels in the borate buffer solution at pH = 9.3 contained the oxides of two main elements, i.e., Fe and Cr. The oxides of the alloying elements Ni and, optionally, Mo, also contribute to the passive layer.

The surface segregation of copper in non-oriented electrical steels

The cold-rolled samples of Fe-Si-Al alloys were annealed in the temperature range 320-1 120 K in the ultra-high-vacuum chamber of a field-emission Auger electron spectrometer, and subsequently characterized by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The Cu segregation rate was estimated based on the surface concentration of Cu after annealing at a given temperature.

Influence of deep-cryogenic treatment on wear resistance of vacuum heat-treated HSS

Wear and plastic deformation the performance od high-speed steels in several applications is not adequate and should be further improved. In recent years there has been an increased utilization of higher strength steels.
