3.
Heterogeneity in expression of the colicin K activity gene CKA is controlled by the SOS system, LexA binding affinity, and stochastic factors

Phenotypic heterogeneity is present in all organisms and enables populaitons to adapt to environmental perturbations. Colicins are bacteriocins encoded on plasmids of E. coli. Results of studies of expression of the colicin K acitivity gene revealed that expression depends upon: 1) induction of the SOS system, 2) affinity of LexA binding to operator sequencs and 3) stochastic factors.

B.04 Guest lecture

4.
Darja Žgur-Bertok was in 2005 a visiting professor at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands

As a visiting professor Darja Žgur-Bertok worked on joint research of regulation of colicin synthesis in E. coli. For their students she presented a lecture: Colicin K synthesis is regulated by ppGpp and the SOS response.
