Contribution to the knowledge at the field important for public health systems: the failure of hip implants. We performed elemental tissue mapping at the high energy focused ion beam and demonstrated the presence of metallic wear particles consisting of Ti, V and Al, indicating the process of the implant degradation before the radical failure of the hip implant. We indicated selective leaching of Al from the wear particles in the body media.
