NC-0002 — Final report
1.
Presentation of the part of the results on an international conference in the form of invited lecture with title: Enhancing silicate ceramics with photocatalytic activity.

Part of the results of the current project was presented on an international conference in the form of invited lecture. We presented a way of modification of silicate ceramics by photocatalysts, which can be used for air purification and reagent synthesis. The latter is the main topic of the current NC-0002 project.

2.
Presentation of the project results on an international conference with title: Photocatalytic Activity of Commercial and Synthesized Cocatalysts Based on TiO2 in CO2 Reduction, Water Splitting and VOC Degradation.

Part of the results of the current project was presented on an international conference. We showed the comparison of synthesized samples regarding absorption of light and microstructure (FE-SEM images comparison) as well as the way of synthesis. We also presented photocatalytic properties od synthesized hybrid materials on base of TiO2, which can be used for air purification and reagent synthesis – both were the topic of the NC-0002 project.

Mentoring of a student with the title of master's thesis: Photocatalytic degradation of alcohol in the air.

Master's student Miljana Banjanin from the University of Sarajevo, under the mentorship of Andrijana Sever Škapin, successfully defended her master's thesis entitled: Photocatalytic degradation of alcohol in the air. Brief summary of the content of the master's thesis: Alcohols, being volatile organic compounds, are one of the most common indoor air pollutants and they can be found in waste amounts, therefore there is an ongoing need to find a way for their simple, safe, economical and environmentally acceptable removal. One of the possibilities is photocatalytic degradation of alcohols found in indoor air, which is a problem this master thesis is focused on. Photocatalysts are often made from nanoparticles of semi conductive elements; their main characteristic being the ability to convert solar energy into chemical reaction energy, used for degradation of polutants and also for reagents production.

Membership in the editorial board of the journal Materials and invited editorial board of a special issue of the journal belonging to the section Thin films and Interfaces.

The project coordinator became a member of the editorial board of journal Materials (ISSN 1996-1944) in 2019 and was invited to be the editor for a special issue of the journal in the section Thin films and Interfaces. The title of the special issue was: "Self-Cleaning Surfaces" with the main topic photocatalysis, what is also the topic of the project NC-0002. In this issue, 17 articles have been accepted for publication.
