Program leader explained latest developments in the breast cancer treatment with the emphasis on the indications for the neoadjuvant treatment in a journal targeting wider professional community. Namely, in certain circumstances the surgical treatment is not the optimal first treatment of breast cancer patients anymore.

Development and implementation of a tool designed to asses individual breast cancer risk in slovenian population

Among many tools developed to estimate the individual breast cancer risk, the most consistent is the Tyrer-Cuzickov algorithm that is behind the IBIS software. It was developed however using the UK breast cancer incidence rates and therefore it had to be adapted to Slovenian data and this modified program is called S-IBIS. With this software, we can classify women to average, elevated and high breast cancer risk categories.
