Prof. Dr. Borut Buchmeister is an Editor-in-Chief of the international scientific journal International Journal of Simulation Modelling (ISSN 1726-4529), indexed in SCI category for Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Engineering, and in other important bibliographic databases (SCOPUS, INSPEC, TEMA, METADEX, GALE, CNKI etc.). The journal publishes theoretical and application oriented research papers, dealing with simulation modelling. The journal is published quarterly by University of Technology Vienna in the frame of DAAAM Int. Vienna society.

European production off-shoring anf back-shooring in light of Industry 4.0

Prof. dr. Iztok Palčič was an invited and plenary speaker at the largest event of the Slovenian Purchasing Association Procurement Summit in 2018. In his speech he presented offshoring and backshoring trends in European manufacturing industry. He also highlighted the main motives for offshoring and backshoring decisions, industries that are more prone to production relocation, and the impact of Industry 4.0 on production backshoring. The knowledge provided is an excellent basis for making strategic decisions about the production offshoring or backshoring in Slovenian manufacturing companies and impact the supply chains design of Slovenian manufacturing companies.

Assessments for accreditation

Prof. dr. Bojan Ačko has performed 14 assessments of calibration laboratories and inspection bodies for Slovenian Accreditation (SA). 14 expertizes on technical competence of assessed bodies were issued to SA. The achievement is important for creating expert basis for conformity assessment in RS, which consists of calibration and testing laboratories as well as certification and inspection bodies.

Ergonomic workplace design with cases from practise

During lecture ergonomics principles were presented with workers loads and guidelines for ergonomic workplace design with cases from practice. More than 30 participants came from different Slovenian companies (Hella Saturnus, Iskra, Kolektor, Domel, Danfoss,...).

New and updated calibration procedures

4 new and 9 updated calibration procedures were written in the Laboratory for Production measurement in years 2018 and 2019 (external cylinder and ball diameters, gauge block comparators, gauge blocks, level meters, line scales, surface plates, thermometers, dial indicator testers, 2D line standards - grid plates, laser distance meters, one coordinate measuring devices, optical flats, tape measures). The procedures are used for assuring traceability of dimensional measurements in Slovenian industry and other branches.
