L4-8221 — Final report
1.
Professional support in informing and educating the public

The brochure is intended for the education of agricultural extension services on the topic of preventing negative impact of farming activities on groundwater. Special attention was given to the implementation of European Frame Water Directive (WFD) in the agricultural sector. The goal is to have a specialized farming adviser, specifically trained in groundwater-friendly farming practices, assigned to each vulnerable groundwater body.

Final interpretation of groundwater status and meteorological parameters in orchards Evrosad

Evrosad apple orchards are situated at the Krško polje aquifer. The effects of rising groundwater level resulting from the construction of the new hydroelectric power plant Brežice were investigated in the scope of study.

4.
Development of prototypes of organic fertilisers from manures with addition of biochar or vermiculite

The organic fertilizer we made from chicken and pig manure (KP) worked similarly effectively as the mineral NPK fertilizer. Other prototype fertilizers with the addition of vermiculite (KPV) and biochar (KPO) were not as effective, but the yields were still higher than in non-fertilized control or compost fertilization. The addition of biochar to the fertilizer from a mixture of chicken and solid pig manure separator (KPO) reduced the nitrate nitrogen content of the soil by 15 %

Modelling system GROWA-DENUZ/WECU for regional modelling transport of nitrogen from soil and aquifers to surface water bodies in Slovenia – updating input data layers in year 2020

In Slovenia, the GROWA-DENUZ/WECU model is used to predict groundwater pollution by nitrates. It is managed by the Slovenian Environmental Agency ARSO, and updated data layers were prepared for the model GROWA-DENUZ/WECU.
