Visiting lecturer at the University of Arizona

Vojko Strahovnik has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Arizona from August until December 2017. He was the main lecturer of two classes: Philosophical Perspectives on Society and Law and Morality. The first course was entirely dedicated to the theme of justice (historical views on justice, distributive justice, status justice, justice for non-human animals, and environmental justice.

The feminine (he)art of giving and the power of feminine divine as new ethics of peace and eco-justice - keynote lecture

The presentation adresses the question how femininity and the maternal body might be also important in shaping the discourse of giving, forgiving and caring. Consideration of a view of the maternal body as signi?cation, conceived of as an embodiment of an ethics is investigated. To bear someone like a maternal body suggests that one need not to be a mother, or indeed a woman, to bear responsibility for the Other (including nature). The cultivation of giving and forgiving as embodied experiance and examination of inter-connectedness of giving and forgiving from feminist perception is examined.
