Production of extracellular heterologous proteins in Streptomyces rimosus, producer of the antibiotic oxytetracycline

In the scope of this paper, we have developed genetic tools for production of heterologous proteins with S. rimosus extracelularly. We have demonstrated, by applying affinity chromatography, that we can rapidly isolate target protein in a single-step process and thus demonstrate industrial utility of the expression system, which we are developinf further in the scope of this project.

The novel transcriptional regulator LmbU promotes lincomycin biosynthesis through regulating expression of its target genes in Streptomyces lincolnensis

In collaboration with research group from ECUST (Shanghail, China), we have identiffied entirely new group of transcriptional positive regulatory proteins, which are found in many antibiotic-producing bacteria. We have demonstrated that positive regulatory protein LmbU controls expression of the genes for production of medically important antibiotic Lincomycin, hence industrial importance of this discovery.
