Studies of ultrafast processes in correlated materials using scanning tunneling microscope

The candidate's doctoral dissertation deals with metastable quantum states in layered materials, which were discovered at the Department of Complex Substances of the Jožef Stefan Institute and published in prestigious journals (Science, Science Advances, Nature Communications ...). An important contribution to previous research is shown in two completely new ways of dealing with the problem of transition to the latent quantum state in 1T-TaS2: (1) the duration of switching between electronic states and (2) the measurement of a time-evolving phase diagram.
